Growing to Scale

Priceline realized that they needed to adopt a more advanced digital strategy to complement their already successful retail empire. They were preparing to face rapid changes in the industry. However, their platform became a barrier.

Priceline's previous site was outdated. Based on Magento Enterprise Edition 1.10, the site delivered suboptimal performance on mobile devices. The site was nearly unusable and could not handle the large influx of consumers using mobile as their primary shopping channel.

Magento

Priceline's new e-commerce site was completely rebuilt on Magento EE version 1.14. Data was migrated to the new platform and prepared for a new website design. The old Concrete5 front-end was replaced with a customized Magento CMS module, addressing the barriers that had drastically slowed down the system.

UI/UX

The customer experience became a primary focus for Priceline's new online store. A responsive front-end was developed to run smoothly on tablets and other mobile devices. The user interface was designed to be easy to use and navigate, allowing customers to efficiently find what they were looking for. AWS hosting was also set up for better performance during peak sales periods, ensuring the platform could handle customer traffic spikes effectively.

Integration 


With their new website, Priceline was able to add new integrations to modernize the customer experience with new features and functionalities. Optimized integrations, including loyalty systems and order fulfillment, enhanced the appeal and usability of the website across all channels. The payment gateway was upgraded to a more secure system to improve performance and fraud detection, ensuring that customers are always protected when making purchases.

System Optimization

To thoroughly test the system, extensive unit testing scripts were created and consistently run during development, combined with functional and load testing to ensure that bugs could be minimized and performance issues detected early. Priceline wanted customers to have the best experience, and this system audit and testing provided them with confidence that everything was optimized according to their vision.
